Our wonderful ranch therapists are our adorable minis—DonKAY, Andy, Mickey and Maylee. They are always ready to meet new friends! These miniature horses and donkey work diligently alongside our participants, fostering a deep connection and providing unique therapeutic experiences. DonKAY, Andy, Mickey and Maylee actively engage with everyone and truly enjoy their important role. They continuously train for their therapy work and maintain their certifications yearly, ensuring the highest standards of care and professionalism.

XO Ranch offers personalized horse riding lessons for children and adults. Our certified instructors tailor the lessons to meet each client's individual needs and abilities. Whether riding under saddle or engaging in training on the ground, these lessons enhance physical strength, coordination, balance, and focus. The bond between the riders and the horse is nurtured, providing a source of joy and empowerment.

Our team also offers a unique mobile mini horse therapy service, where our specially trained mini horses can travel to schools, convalesant homes and other locations. These visits provide therapeutic experiences that enhance motor skills, sensory integration, emotional regulation, and social interactions. The presence of these gentle and affectionate mini horses brings joy and healing directly to children in diverse settings.

At XO Ranch, we believe in the therapeutic benefits of connecting with animals and nature. Alongside our horses, children care for goats, chickens, pigs, rabbits, and participate in tending to the garden. Engaging in these activities cultivates a sense of responsibility, empathy, and connection with the natural world.

The Ranch Works Workforce Development Program empowers individuals in the IDD and neurodivergent community to build confidence, independence, and job-ready skills through hands-on vocational training on our working ranch. Participants gain real-world experience in teamwork, communication, animal care, and workplace responsibility while developing meaningful pathways to employment, personal growth, and community inclusion.

We are proud to be the only organization in East County San Diego offering these specialized Assisted Equine Therapy services for children with learning and developmental disabilities. Our dedicated team of therapists, instructors, and our beloved miniature horses are committed to creating a nurturing and supportive environment where every child can thrive.
